On August 28, 2019, the People’s Aid Coordinating Committee awarded Daejin International Volunteers Association (DIVA) a three-year extension of the permissions necessary to continue NGO activities in Vietnam. DIVA has expanded its activity areas by adding two more areas, Bac Giang Province and Lang Son Province, to the previous area centered within Thai Nguyen Province. In the coming three years, it plans to carry out Korean language education and a water improvement project by introducing a water purification system in elementary, middle, and high schools in Thai Nguyen Province. Also scheduled is a housing improvement project for the underprivileged in Bac Giang Province and a basic infrastructure building project achieved by supplying medical equipment and products in Lang Son Province.
One individual affiliated with DIVA stated, “We benefit from this permission to continue NGO activities as we can earn trust from the nation and receive exemption from tariffs when delivering material aid to the people of Vietnam.” She added, “We plan to provide support in areas of Vietnam where local situations are appropriate in terms of the UN’s goal of sustainable development.”
